Beren Cross of Leeds Live has heaped praise on Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen, who was described as a ‘thorn in the opposition side’ in his player ratings.
Those at Elland Road watched on as their side tore Cagliari apart, smashing the Serie B side 6-2. It was Rodrigo who took home the match ball after his hat-trick, but Kristensen was amongst those praised by Cross, who handed the Dane an 8/10 match rating.
The Leeds Live journalist said: “An Elland Road debut for the Denmark international and the kind of performance which underlines his cult potential. Everything threatening seemed to go through him in the first half. His link-up play with Brenden Aaronson was fantastic and he showed end product too. A thorn in the opposition side attacking. Some questions about counters in behind him.”
Alongside Rodrigo’s treble, Patrick Bamford and Robin Koch also found the back of the net in an incredibly impressive display. Jesse Marsch will just hope to see his side take that goalscoring form into the Premier League season, which is fast approaching.
TIF Thoughts on Rasmus Kristensen…
From Kristensen’s perspective, the aim will also be to take pre-season form into competitive action. Marsch’s side square off against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening day. A good start could prove to be crucial in the latter stages of the season.
It’s been a summer of new arrivals at Leeds United, and they must get off to a good start at Elland Road. Marsch has been backed; he has to reward that back now, though, as he looks to take the club into the comforts of mid-table.
Kristensen has certainly impressed Cross. As the rest of England watches on in the coming campaign, his ranking amongst the best Leeds players may well rise in significant fashion, as he potentially plays a key role.
