Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Burnley left-back Charlie Taylor would be ‘open’ to a return to boyhood club Leeds United this summer.

The ‘powerful’ full-back has been involved with a Burnley side in transition under the guidance of new manager Vincent Kompany, and has featured in five Championship games, winning one, losing one, and drawing three.

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, via MotLeedsnews, the Yorkshire would be on red alert if Burnley make Taylor available this summer, with Kompany reportedly willing to clear out some experienced names.

The ‘red alert’ status of those at Elland Road regarding a left-back comes as no surprise. As of right now, Jesse Marsch has just two left-backs to call on, with Junior Firpo and 18-year-old Leo Fuhr Hjelde the only options in the squad.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke claimed that Taylor would be ‘open’ to the move, saying: “I’m sure Charlie Taylor would be open to moving to Leeds and open to moving back to the Premier League.

“I think left-back is an area they’re looking to strengthen in, and I think Taylor would be a good signing.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Considering that Leeds have just two left-backs – one of them being just 18 – they could do with bringing Taylor in, or another option. So far this season, Leeds have had a mixed, yet unbeaten start to the Premier League season, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers, drawing against Crystal Palace and Southampton.

Marsch will consider it a solid start to the campaign, but will know that a left-back could boost the current squad even more. A man of Taylor’s experience, too, as someone who suffered the heartbreak of relegation, could help Leeds United avoid a similar fate this season.
