Journalist Phil Hay has revealed that Leeds United are yet to make a bid for Kai Wagner despite reports of strong interest.

According to a recent report in Forbes, manager Jesse Marsch and sporting director, Victor Orta have been in ‘close contact’ with the left-back’s camp over the last few weeks.

On top of that, with the acceptance that the Whites probably need a new left-sided full-back to arrive this summer and provide more depth in that position, a move for Wagner may be expected soon.

However, according to Hay’s source in America, Leeds United are yet to make an offer for the Philadelphia Union star at this stage of the window.

While talking on The Phil Hay Show, the journalist explained his understanding of the situation, saying: “Well, I think Leeds are one of the clubs who like the look of him, but I was speaking to our American guys earlier this week, and they were saying there have been no bids for him.

“I think Philadelphia Union, where he plays, are increasingly of the view that somebody is going to come in and sign him or might well. But certainly as of yesterday, when I was speaking to one of our American writers, Sam, he was saying: ‘No, there’s been no offers’.”

TIF thoughts on Kai Wagner and Leeds…

The Whites have been linked with Wagner throughout the summer with reports of possible interest dating back to May, and so it is interesting to hear Hay say that while the club do like the player they are yet to make a bid.

The German has proven himself to be a great provider over in America, claiming 17 assists in 100 MLS outings for Philadelphia Union, and so he would potentially be able to bring some of that quality over to the Premier League should a bid ever arrive.

However, while his team seem resigned to the idea that they could lose Wagner this summer, with Leeds hesitating over the deal this possible transfer could go right down to the wire. It certainly looks like one to keep an eye out for other the coming weeks.
