Dan Cook has been speaking on the HLTCO podcast about how he believes it’s now looking unlikely Wilfried Zaha will sign a new contract at Crystal Palace.

While talk is seemingly always rife about Zaha and his future, this summer something appears to be slightly more realistic with interest from top clubs in Zaha, especially with just one year left on his contract.

Zaha is being tipped with a move to Chelsea and while losing Zaha will not be something Steve Parish and Patrick Vieira would like to consider or even see happen, if he is not willing or likely to sign a new contract, cashing in now could be the best move.

Cook has claimed that he doesn’t think it’s likely now that Zaha signs a new contract amidst Chelsea links.

(1:20) “In essence, if you are looking at it from the outside looking in, it seems a relatively straightforward transaction, you’ve got a high-wage player within the last 12 months of his contract at Crystal Palace, who clearly at this stage, it looks unlikely to put pen to paper in the extension.

“With that in mind, the business decision is one in which you try to maximise the value for him in the last summer transfer window of his time as a Crystal Palace squad member, but obviously, the emotional leverage involved in this particular conversation makes that a far more tricky saga to navigate.

Will Zaha sign a new contract?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“I think that’s probably what Steve Parish, Dougie Freedman and Patrick Vieira are wrestling with at the moment in their own minds.”

TIF Thoughts on Zaha’s future…

Zaha has simply become a Palace great during his time having become the club’s all-time top scorer and appearance maker in the Premier League all while still being just 29 years old which just proves how great of a player he’s been for the Eagles.

Think you're the biggest Crystal Palace fan? Then who is the club's record signing?

However, all good things must come to an end and given his natural ability, 28 league goal involvements over the last two seasons suggest he has a lot of that, the winger may well see this as his best chance to get a move to a bigger club and play some form of European football.

Chelsea would be able to offer him the best kind of European football in the form of the Champions League which would be a great way for Zaha to cap off what has been an impressive career in England for the most part.
