Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Crystal Palace would consider offers for Wilfred Zaha this summer.

Zaha is a product of the Crystal Palace academy, but spent some time away from Selhurst Park during the 2013/14 season after joining Manchester United, but he soon returned to south London and has featured 431 times for the Eagles in total.

The 29-year-old attacker has recently entered the final 12 months of his contract with Palace, and several clubs such as Roma and Chelsea have shown interest in his services this summer.

With Zaha in the final year of his contract, Taylor spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that if an offer comes in for him before the window closes, it would be considered by the club.

He said: “It’s a bit of a weird one now with Zaha because he’s starting to get on, you look at his age, he’s late 20s, which seems crazy to think. He would be happy to stay at Palace, but if an offer arrives, I’m sure it would be considered.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…

Zaha was one of the main men for Palace last season, as he was the club’s top scorer with 14 goals in 33 Premier League games, so Patrick Vieira might be keen to tie him down to a new deal with the club so that he does not leave next season on a free.

Although it might seem like a good idea to cash in on Zaha this summer if he does not put pen to paper on a new deal, his goals might be hard for Vieira to replace, especially as they have already lost their second-highest goalscorer from last term in Conor Gallagher, who has returned to Chelsea.

Palace have made four signings this summer, but none of them are proven goalscorers, so if Zaha was to leave before the deadline, the French manager would have to act fast to find a replacement for him.
