Journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek moving to Crystal Palace is a deal that makes sense.

Loftus-Cheek has previously spent time on loan with Palace in the 2017/18 season, and he has been linked with a return to Selhurst Park.

The English midfielder featured 40 times last season for Chelsea in all competitions, where he found the back of the net twice and assisted five times, but with the return of Conor Gallagher to the club after a successful loan deal with Palace, Loftus-Cheek’s game time could be reduced.

Whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, Taylor claimed that although he has not heard anything, re-signing Loftus-Cheek would be a move that makes sense if Palace wished to recruit a player of his type.

He said: “I have not heard anything, unfortunately.

“But why not? If he becomes available and Palace are looking to sign a player of that sort of mould, then it’s a deal that makes sense. He had a great loan spell there in the 2017/18 season.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…

A move to Palace for Loftus-Cheek could be one that makes sense for all parties because he would surely be getting more regular game time with the Eagles than at Chelsea, while Patrick Vieira will have a hungry 26-year-old on his hands for the future.

However, it seems Loftus-Cheek may well be keen to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place in the first team, and Taylor has claimed that he has not heard much in terms of a move away from Stamford Bridge, so it will be interesting to see if he is given regular game time for the Blues if he stays put.

It might be a good move for the Englishman to move to Palace if he is not going to be a regular in the starting XI for Chelsea, as with the World Cup starting in November, he might be keen to be playing week-in, week-out to bolster his chances of getting on the plane.
