Dan Rolinson heaped praise on Aston Villa summer signing Boubacar Kamara after Steven Gerrard’s side defeated Everton 2-1.

The Aston Villa squad will be in far higher spirits after the Everton game compared to how they would have felt after the opening day loss to Bournemouth. At Villa Park, securing their first three points of the season, Gerrard’s side controlled the game throughout, storming into a 2-0 lead, courtesy of Danny Ings, and Emiliano Buendia.

Everton’s attempted comeback came too late in the end, as Lucas Digne’s own goal proved to be nothing more than a nervous consolation strike, which forced Villa to hang on for the victory.

It wasn’t the goal scorers that Rolinson was left most impressed with, however. Instead, he handed most of his praise to new man Kamara, saying on the Claret and Blue Podcast following the win: “I think Kamara is our best midfielder currently at the club by a mile, I think. I don’t think there’s anyone close to him in the midfield that’s as good as him, and I think that’s a bit problem.”

TIF Thoughts on Kamara…

Arriving from Marseille on a free deal this summer, Kamara has seemingly slotted straight into Gerrard’s side, and, as a result, has become an instant fan favourite, with Rolinson more than approving.

According to WhoScored, the stats also suggest that he has become very comfortable very quickly in the Aston Villa midfield. In two Premier League games, Kamara has average 1.5 tackles, 1.5 blocks, one interception, and has kept a pass accuracy of 82.2%.

In the game against Everton he had 90 touches of the ball and won 5 duels.

Next up for Aston Villa is a trip to Selhurst Park, where they will square off against Crystal Palace in hope of making it back-to-back wins in the Premier League.
