Journalist Lee Ryder has slammed Allan Saint-Maximin for his ‘frustrating’  display in Newcastle United’s recent draw.

In their Premier League outing this weekend, the Magpies had to settle for a point in a goalless draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Seagulls enjoyed the better opportunities on the day but couldn’t find the breakthrough, while it seems like one man at the other end of the pitch couldn’t make the desired impact either.

Indeed, according to Ryder, ‘nothing really came off’ for Saint-Maximin as he delivered an uninspired 6/1o performance for Newcastle, as well as also picking up a yellow card for diving.

In the player ratings for ChronicleLive, the journalist wrote: “A frustrating day for the winger as nothing really came off for him, Also booked for simulation.”

TIF thoughts on Allan Saint-Maximin and Newcastle…

It seems as though Ryder’s opinion is well backed up by SofaScore too, who give Saint-Maximin a 6.7 for his efforts as he managed a lowly 58 per cent passing accuracy, lost the ball 17 times, and delivered zero accurate crosses.

Interestingly enough, according to a recent report in Football Insider, Newcastle could well be happy to sell the Frenchman this summer should they receive an offer in the region of £40.

To be fair, following a performance like that, it’s not hard to see why the Magpies might believe they could potentially upgrade that position before the transfer market closes.
