Express and Star journalist Liam Keen believes Wolves should look to sign Armando Broja on loan this summer as the Chelsea man would fit their system well without the club putting their neck out on a permanent deal.
After moving Fabio Silva out on loan and star man Raul Jimenez picking up a frustrating injury during the sides preseason game against Besiktas, Wolves need to bolster their attacking options this summer if they are to improve on their disastrous form in front of goal last season.
One player who is now hotly on the lips of journalist Keen is Broja, who is looking for a move away from the current club Chelsea, but the London outfit does not want to get rid of him permanently. Which could work for Wolves as Keen thinks they should approach for a loan deal.
Keen told the Express & Star Wolves Podcast: “Broja, for me, is the standout there. I think he’d be an excellent signing. Of course, West Ham have tried to sign him permanently, I don’t think Chelsea are massively keen on letting him go, so it’s probably unlikely. I would imagine financially, he might be on a fair bit of money as well.
“But a player that, I think would be ideal, particularly as a loan player, because you’re not sticking your neck out there and signing a player when you’ve got Fabio yet to come back and, of course, he scored on his debut for Anderlecht. So, a loan would be ideal, I think, and a player like Broja would suit the system really well.”
TIF Thoughts on Keen’s comments…
We think Broja would immediately step in as the club’s top scorer from last season, as the Albanian picked up nine goals in his maiden Premier League season with Southampton while Jimenez ranked as Wolves’ top scorer with just six in all competitions.
This potential deal could work to be the best to end this long transfer saga. If Wolves were to pick up Broja on loan they would get a young and hungry player to provide cover for Jimenez while he recovers and it would allow Silva to stay out on loan and develop.
In this situation, Chelsea would also be able to get their future striker more Premier League experience while guaranteeing he returns at the end of the 22/23 campaign. While Broja is looking for a permanent move, going on loan for another season gives him the chance to show his potential and his ability and therefore entice more interest from clubs next summer.
