Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that the chance for Harry Winks to work with Frank Lampard at Everton will be attractive for him.

There have been reports stating that talks have been held between Everton and their Premier League counterparts Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move to Goodison Park for Winks this summer.

Winks featured sparingly for Spurs last season, as he made 19 appearances in the Premier League but just nine of those came from the start, and the north London club have claimed that he is worth £25m if someone wants to come in for him.

With Winks being linked to Everton, O’Rourke claimed to GiveMeSport that the idea of working with Frank Lampard will be attractive for the 26-year-old.

He said: “Harry Winks was an England international not that long ago, so maybe a new challenge is needed for him to get the best out of himself again.

“The chance to work with Frank Lampard, I’m sure, is something that would be attractive to him as well.

“It could be a good fit for Everton because I’m sure that they would be getting a hungry and determined Harry Winks if he was to leave Tottenham.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Although Winks, who has been called ‘fabulous’, did not feature heavily last season for Spurs, he could be a good option for Everton this summer, as he would come to Goodison Park with bags of Premier League experience, having notched 128 appearances in the top flight across six seasons.

Despite struggling last season after finishing just four points above the drop zone, Everton have only signed centre-back James Tarkowski this summer, so someone like Winks could be a good option in the heart of midfield, and he might be keen to push for a move away from Spurs because of his lack of involvement in recent seasons.
