Jack Pitt-Brooke has taken to Twitter to discuss the future of Ben Davies at Tottenham Hotspur.
Davies had something of a renaissance under Antonio Conte at Spurs last season as he was deployed as a left-sided centre-back in a defensive three that has ultimately been rewarded as the Welshman has now penned a new deal.
The defender has signed a one-year extension with the club, which if fulfilled, will have seen him spend more than a decade with Tottenham, and considering how many managers he’s played under, that’s some achievement.
Pitt-Brooke now fully expects Davies to be a starter for Spurs in most games this season, despite the club having considered moving him on last summer.
He wrote: “New contract for Ben Davies! Huge turnaround for him at Spurs. They considered selling him last summer but he started 34/36 for Conte and is now secured for another three years.’

“Another example of Davies’ staying power is that at end of last season Spurs were planning to spend big £ on an exciting new LCB. But now they’ve got Clement Lenglet in on loan, probably as cover/competition for Davies. I imagine Davies will start the majority of games this year.”

It will be huge for Conte this upcoming season if Davies can stay fit, because that would give the Italian boss an option at centre-back and left wing-back, as well as having new signings Ivan Perisic and Clement Lenglet through the door.
If Davies does see out his Spurs contract until the summer of 2025, it will surely go down as a solid piece of business by the Tottenham board given that back in 2015, Davies was signed for what looks now to be a relatively low fee of £11 million.
