Tottenham Hotspur attacker Lucas Moura has spoken in glowing terms about the club’s new transfer signing Richarlison.
The former Everton forward made the switch to north London earlier this summer in a deal worth £60m, with the Brazilian signing a five-year contract at Spurs.
With both players being Brazilian internationals in their careers, the two may well already have an established relationship and judging from a recent interview it certainly seems as though Lucas is happy to have his compatriot on board at Tottenham.
Indeed, in a video shared on Twitter by football.london the 29-year-old speaks well of his new teammate saying he will ‘help’ the club a lot.
Lucas said of Richarlison: “A very good guy and I met him on the national team two or three years ago. Quality player, a very good guy. He will help us a lot because he has some experience in Premier League and he’s strong, his mentality is very good. And I think is a great addition for us.”
He then added: “He’s very, very simple, very humble. And he’s very funny. It is always good to have a guy like this in our squad. I’m happy because he’s Brazilian. So I have one more Brazil with me now.”
Will Richarlison be a good transfer for Spurs?
TIF thoughts on Richarlison and Spurs…
Considering both play in similar positions and that Richarlison is four years younger than his compatriot, some may have expected Lucas to be pretty concerned by the arrival. However, if he is, he certainly doesn’t show it with these latest quotes as he speaks extremely well of the 25-year-old.
Last season, Richarlison scored ten goals while also provided five assists in the Premier League and so he has proven he can perform in England’s top flight – just as Lucas alludes to.
The more experienced man was quite as prolific but still chipped in with two league goals and six assists. All in all, the new signing certainly adds good depth to the Spurs squad and he seems to be a welcome addition for now.
