Newcastle United will continue to monitor the summer market but are likely to do the remainder of their business in the latter stages.

This is according to Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves, who has been speaking on the latest episode of the Transfer Talk podcast.

Eddie Howe has already seen three permanent arrivals come through the doors this summer but Newcastle are yet to provide any attacking options for the 44-year-old manager.

There have been strong links to Moussa Diaby and Armando Broja, however, both seem to have hit their own issues along the way.

With Broja seemingly off to West Ham United and Diaby potentially off the cards, Graves now expects the Magpies to be busy in the final stages of the window.

He said: “The thing is, I think Newcastle will do stuff late. That’s what I think, I really do. They’re looking at the way the window’s changing – we’ve talked about Paqueta, we’ve talked about Diaby. I just think the window will throw up opportunities and Newcastle are patient, they know they’ve got a squad there that they’ve improved.”

TIF Thoughts on Graves’ comments…

We do think there is some sense in what Graves suggests, with this allowing Howe to assess his squad over the opening few games of the new campaign.

Are you frustrated by the lack of signings?

Yes

No

No

However, we do think it is blatantly obvious they are in desperate need of bringing in another striker, which we feel should be addressed as soon as possible.

With a severe lack of goals coming from Chris Wood and Callum Wilson’s fitness a real concern, we think Dan Ashworth should be looking to find the Toon a new striker for the start of the season.
