Newcastle United could face competition if they decide to look at bringing in Birmingham City starlet Jobe Bellingham this summer, according to journalist Jordan Cronin.

After the development of Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund, there is a lot of speculation about the potential of his brother Jobe, who is currently plying his trade at Birmingham City in the Championship.

As a result, he has been linked with Premier League outfits Newcastle and Liverpool this summer, but according to Cronin, the Magpies could also face competition from arch-rivals Sunderland, after the player was invited to the Stadium of Light and the training ground.

Cronin stated on the Loaded Mag NUFC transfer show: “From a Newcastle point of view, I’ve heard nothing. I have heard whispers that he [Jobe Bellingham] might be, or he’s viewed potentially as [having] bigger potential than his brother.

“Not one I’ve heard, last time I heard, he was being shown around the training ground over the River Wear. Just wait and see how that develops.”

TIF Thoughts on Cronin’s comments…

Bringing in Bellingham could be a huge move for Newcastle, especially if he turns out to be anywhere near the level of his brother, let alone better, as rumoured by Cronin. He could be a huge star in the future and would surely cost a fraction of what he might in just a few years’ time.

Last season, Bellingham only featured twice in the Championship for Birmingham, but he did manage 10 appearances in the U18 Premier League, where he scored five goals – as well as 13 outings in the Premier League 2, where he managed one assist in his game time.

While Bellingham is obviously a raw talent at the moment, he could have bags of potential for the future. Despite the fact that he could feature sooner at a club like Sunderland, the future will surely be brighter for him at Newcastle, who surely have a brighter future under their owners.

Who should Bellingham sign for?
