Newcastle United are interested in Armando Broja this summer following the breakdown in the proposed deal for Hugo Ekitike

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the 20-year-old striker and his future on the Que Golazo YouTube channel.

And Romano has hailed the Albanian striker as being more than ready to make a real statement in the Premier League following his loan spell with Southampton.

Broja spent last season out on loan on the south coast where he was able to find the back of the net on six occasions in the Premier League.

Now back with his parent club, it is believed the Toon are one of many clubs already looking to bring the young striker in this summer:

“Yes, lots of interest. Many, many, many clubs, Newcastle, Everton, also West Ham have always been interested in him, Italian clubs.”

“My personal opinion is that Armando Broja is really one of the most interesting strikers and talented strikers around. I really love him. I think he’s a very talented boy. And he’s ready to make an impact because with Southampton he was very good. It was not easy to have that kind of impact in Premier League, [in] your first season as a star.

“And so I’m sure that it’s a good opportunity for on the market for many, many clubs. And he’s a name that we have to remember in the coming weeks unless Thomas Tuchel wants to call says no, this boy stays here.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Romano is certainly full of praise for the Albanian striker who has only had one real season playing in the English top-flight with the Saints.

Do you think Broja would be a good buy?

Yes

Yes

No

No

There certainly seems to be a lot of potential with Broja, and having chased Ekitike, could this prove a better option for Newcastle given Broja actually has already played in the Premier League?

We think there is certainly a case to be made for this but what worries us about Newcastle’s striker search is the reliance on a young striker if Callum Wilson is to pick up one of his regular injury issues.

However, having spent last season with the Saints, could the 2022/23 campaign be when Broja really emerges as a reliable starting striker?
