Callum Hudson-Odoi should be a target for Newcastle United this summer, as he fits the criteria of the club and is out of favour with Thomas Tuchel, according to journalist Jordan Cronin.

In previous seasons, Hudson-Odoi has been highly touted as a future star, but since he has failed to nail down a spot in the Chelsea first team under Tuchel, and has now been rumoured with a move away from the club.

With Hudson-Odoi potentially on the table, Cronin believes that Newcastle should be looking at the 21-year-old as he fits the criteria for the club and still has bags of potential to become a great player in the Premier League.

Cronin said on the Loaded Mag NUFC YouTube channel: “With Hudson-Odoi, I think he probably fits the criteria in terms of still young, a lot of room for development.

“Clearly he’s a player that’s got bags of potential.

“I know he’s not totally in favour with Thomas Tuchel.

“So that may be one that Newcastle will monitor and potentially go for.”

TIF Thoughts on Hudson-Odoi to Newcastle…

Hudson-Odoi has shown in the past that he has the potential to be an elite-level player in world football and has even garnered the interest of Bayern Munich. So with this in mind, if Newcastle can pursue a deal and bring him in for next season, it could be a huge coup for the new owners given he has 17 Champions League appearances to his name.

The Englishman appeared 28 times across all competitions for the Blues last season and managed three goals and six assists while averaging an impressive 1.3 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.1 dribbles with an 85.7% passing accuracy. He also ranked in the 94th percentile for progressive carries and the 92nd for shot-creating actions last season, suggesting he could make an instant impact at Newcastle if signed.

While selling a player of his potential might not be a wise decision for Chelsea, with their recent links to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele, it is hard to see where he will fit in for a consistent role, and therefore, it could be in the best interests of the club and player to move on.
