Journalist James Marshment has claimed that if Leeds United signed Josh Tymon this summer then it would be a clever signing.

There have been recent reports stating that Leeds United are interested in signing Tymon from Championship side Stoke City this summer, but they face competition from Rangers who are also keen on luring the left-back away from Stoke.

Tymon was a mainstay in the Stoke side last season, in the Championship he featured in 44 out of the 46 league games that they played, where he scored one goal and assisted four times.

With Leeds linked with Tymon this summer, Marshment claimed on the Just Joe Football Show YouTube channel that if Leeds can get £1m for Leif Davis and then they can acquire Tymon for £6m, then it would be clever business.

“Josh Tymon we have been linked with, he’s a pretty good player, he is pretty handy, he looks after himself, 48 games last season for Stoke.

“And if £6m is the fee, for me if you are getting £1m for Leif Davis at the same token to sort of offset some of that cost, that to me would be a clever signing,” Marshment said.

TIF Thoughts on Marshment’s comments…

Leeds are in need of a left-back, they signed Junior Firpo at the start of last season from Barcelona, but he failed to make an impact after making just 19 starts in the Premier League, and with Stuart Dallas being side-lined potentially until Christmas, it would not be a surprise if Marsch was to bring in a left-back before the season starts.

Tymon – hailed “superb” by Stoke boss, Michael O’Neill – has proven himself in the Championship after missing just two games last term, and with him being just 23 years old, Marsch might look at him as a prospect for the future, to challenge Firpo and then Dallas when he returns, for the left-back spot next season.
