Leeds United: James Marshment tips £10m move for Moussa Dembele

Journalist James Marshment has urged Leeds United to try and sign Moussa Dembele this summer after learning of his low price tag.

The Whites seem to be in the market for a new forward in the current window, with a striker such as Junior Adamu being linked with the club in recent times.

However, while Leeds continue with their search, a new name has been proposed as an option. Indeed, Lyon forward Dembele has been mooted for a possible £10m move to Southampton by The Sun, but Marshment has claimed that Jesse Marsch’s men should make a swoop for the Frenchman instead.

The journalist took to Twitter to make his argument, writing: “Wouldn’t often do this, but think Leeds could do far worse than look at signing Lyon striker Moussa Dembele. Would fit the bill – and with a year left on his deal, he’s reportedly up for sale at around £10m. Still only [25], he has 67 goals in 143 games for the Ligue 1 side.”

TIF Thoughts on Moussa Dembele and Leeds…

The 25-year-old, who was hailed as ‘one of the world’s best strikers’ by Xherdan Shaqiri, certainly has plenty of experience, having played in France, Spain, Scotland and England (via Transfermarkt). That time spent in the United Kingdom with Celtic and Fulham could help Dembele adjust to life back in the Premier League fairly quickly if Leeds were to sign him.

On top of that, he ended last term like a man on fire, scoring in each of Lyon’s final seven Ligue 1 games of the season to finish the campaign with 22 goals in all competitions.

With that in mind, it may be a bit of a shock to see him up for sale at the price of just £10m, but it’s no surprise to see why Marshment feels as though he could ‘fit the bill’ if Leeds were to make summer move for him.
