Journalist Conor McGilligan has played down rumours linking Moses Simon with a move to Leeds United this summer.

While there seems to be plenty of excitement regarding some possible transfers for the Whites at the moment – most notably a deal for Charles De Ketelaere – not all touted moves seem to have everyone happy.

According to a report in RMC Sport, Leeds are set to rival Nice in an attempt to Simon from Nantes. This talk, however, has left McGilligan rather bemused.

Indeed, when speaking on the One Leeds Fan YouTube channel, the presenter said: Leeds United are battling Ligue 1 side Nice for the signing of Nigerian winger Moses Simon.

“I’m going to cut this off because Moses Simon has been on the rumour mill for about three or four years now.”

TIF Thoughts on Moses Simon and Leeds…

McGilligan seems pretty dubious about this transfer claim, and references the fact that Simon has been tipped to make the switch the Premier League club in the past.

Indeed, even in the last transfer window back in January, French football expert Ignazio Genuardi claimed that Leeds had approached the player (via Completesports) only for nothing to come of the rumour.

Having netted six goals and provided eight assists in Ligue 1 last season, the player clearly could be of interest to some clubs. Even so, it doesn’t seem as though McGilligan will be sucked in by any of the transfer talk.

If his view is correct and there really is nothing to the rumours, it looks as though Leeds will allow Nice a free run to try and sign Simon, who has been labelled as a ‘menace’, from Nantes this summer – providing their interest in the player is actually genuine.
