Presenter ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United have an interest in Yves Bissouma – but will have to face off competition from many other clubs for his signature.

Earlier this week, the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder deleted all pictures relating to the club from his Instagram account and included a crossed irons symbol on his profile – which may have been seen as a reference to the Hammers.

No doubt, this will have put plenty of supporters on high alert, wondering where he could end up next if that is a sign he will leave the Seagulls this summer.

It looks as though West Ham could be one of the teams that make a move for the 25-year-old in the coming weeks and months, but they won’t be alone.

Indeed, while talking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex said he had looked into the idea of a move, and had found out that he is a ‘target’ for the Hammers. However, he claimed the Instagram post is not a hint that specifically suggests he could be signing for the club soon.

He said: “I also, since the last podcast, looked into Bissouma, the Brighton midfielder, who had deleted his Instagram posts of him playing for Brighton.

“There was a crossed irons – the symbol that West Ham fans use – in his Instagram, which led people to speculate that he was going to sign for West Ham.

Would Bissouma be a good fit for West Ham?

“As I’ve said many times before, other players have done that. [Toni] Kroos of Real Madrid, I’m sure is one of those players that has done that. There’s other players, too.

“He’s put it in there to show that he is a hard worker and he is a strong player – not that he’s about to join West Ham. So that information is irrelevant.

“He is a target of West Ham, but he’s also a target of many other clubs as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Yves Bissouma and West Ham…

As Ex mentions, if West Ham were to chase the player, they would have to fend off plenty of competition for the midfielder. Even back in January, Aston Villa were heavily linked with Bissouma, but were reported to be put off by his lofty £50m valuation.

Newcastle United were also linked with a move for the 25-year-old in the past, and with his contract now set to expire in 12 months, it’s no surprise to see a number of clubs eyeing up a transfer.

During the past season, Seagulls manager Graham Potter said he was ‘Champions League-level’, and if that is the case, West Ham would certainly do well to pull off a deal.

Sadly though, while he may be a target, with so many other teams circling, this deal might not get across the line.
