Journalist Ben Jacobs has been speaking on The Done Deal Show about how much Tottenham Hotspur may have to pay for Alessandro Bastoni.
It looks set to be a very busy and exciting summer transfer window for Spurs fans and Antonio Conte, with Ivan Perisic already through the door and a backup goalkeeper in the form of Fraser Forster seemingly very close to being completed, all before the window officially opens.
While Perisic and Forster both free transfers, Spurs have been linked with the likes of Bastoni, Josko Gvardiol and Djed Spence, and despite being a regular for Inter, who came close to winning Serie A, Bastoni may not cost Spurs too much money.
Jacobs has claimed that signing Bastoni for potentially less than £50m would be a bargain for Spurs.
He said: “This is a player that Conte wants, and also, the other thing to add is it’s seen as a bargain, because I think the transfer fee will be between £45m and £50m – that’s my understanding from kind of asking around.
Would £45 million be a bargain for Bastoni?
Yes!
No!
“And for a player of his calibre, a real superstar who will arrive young, but kind of the finished package, that’s absolutely incredible – that’s just a really, really good value.”
TIF Thoughts on Bastoni…
The Athletic has recently reported that Spurs are very much interested in Bastoni this summer as Conte looks to improve a back three that saw him deploy left-back Ben Davies as a third centre-back, and with £150m pumped in by ENIC last week, singing Bastoni for less than £50m would be a stroke of genius.
With Conte knowing Bastoni from his time managing Inter and sporting director Fabio Paratici having a good set of contacts from his many years working in Serie A, they may well be able to strike up a good deal with the Nerazzurri and bring in a 23-year-old centre-back with 169 first-team appearances already under his belt.
Think he doesn’t want to leave so spurs looking at different options
