Dean Jones has been speaking on The Done Deal Show about Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Alessandro Bastoni.

With Tottenham seemingly very much interested in bringing in a centre-back this summer as Bastoni has been heavily linked, it appears Antonio Conte has pinpointed that as an area of weakness during his few months at the helm in north London, which should come as no surprise considering left-back Ben Davies played as a third centre-back for a lot of the most recent campaign.

Bastoni, who was part of an Inter side that just missed out on the Scudetto this season – managing to help guide them to the Italian Cup – now has the opportunity to link up with Conte once again and test himself in the Premier League, and could well be tempted.

Jones believes that the Italian defender is the main man Spurs and Conte want this summer.

He said: “Tottenham obviously have been after various defenders since Conte came into the club. He’s made it absolutely clear that he needs more solidity there at the back and a certain style of defending, too.

Will Spurs back Conte?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Bastoni is the guy that we believe is front of the queue right now for them to get, so I do believe they’ll look to get it done.”

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

It has been reported that if Spurs are serious about bringing Bastoni to the club this summer and truly backing Conte, they will have to fork out at least £54m, which would see the Italian join Tanguy Ndombele as the club’s record signing.

That would be a huge outlay of money for Spurs, but after ENIC pumped £150m into the club’s coffers as Joe Lewis increased the number of shares he owns in Spurs, it appears that Tottenham, ENIC and Daniel Levy are ready to make a big splash this summer and give Conte what he wants.

I know I am getting ahead of myself here, but with all the talent lined up to join us, how the heck could we EVER let Antonio leave? Players that love him are so loyal, they will want to follow him wherever he goes!
