Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to potentially make a ‘verbal proposal’ for Raphinha.

The Leeds United winger was expected to join Barcelona this summer, but with the Spanish club struggling to find the funds for a transfer, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs have entered the race for his signature (via The Athletic).

While the Gunners seem to be leading the interest at the moment from the Premier League clubs – having already seen one offer refusedTottenham may well make a bid in the near future.

Indeed, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained his understanding of the situation, while pointing out that Antonio Conte is a ‘big fan’ of the Brazilian.

He said (4:40): “Tottenham they are really interested in Raphinha. They are discussing with Leeds a potential verbal proposal.

“So also Tottenham are in the race, also Tottenham want Raphinha. I understand that Antonio Conte is a big fan of the player. But at the same point, they know it’s a really complicated deal with many clubs into it.”

TIF thoughts on Raphinha and Spurs…
As Romano explains, this deal certainly looks to be rather ‘complicated’. As mentioned before Barcelona have had a long interest in the player, and if they can find the money Raphinha, who has been called ‘better than Neymar’, will likely end up going to La Liga as his first choice option.
On top of that, Arsenal have already made on bid for the player and now it looks as though they will up the intensity of their efforts to sign the winger next week.
However, if Romano’s information is correct, and Conte truly is a big fan of the player, the Italian may well expect Daniel Levy to turn that verbal proposal into something more concrete in the coming days.
Only time will tell, but this certainly looks like something to keep an eye on.
