Ben Jacobs has claimed on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel that Newcastle United have all but ended their pursuit of Richarlison.

The Magpies are said to be very much in the market for a new striker this summer and after their pursuit of Hugo Ekitike seemingly slowed down due to agent demands, Newcastle are now reportedly looking at other targets.

One of those targets was reportedly Richarlison, who finished the season as Everton’s top goalscorer but has now told the Toffees that he wishes to leave and join a bigger club with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea said to be interested in the Brazilian.

Jacobs, however, believes that people within Newcastle have now realised they won’t be able to sign Richarlison this summer, despite their interest.

Would Richarlison be a starter for Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

(12:00) “What’s clear and shows that Ekitike is on the ropes a little bit now and the interest from PSG is genuine, is the fact that Newcastle are exploring other options.

They’ve looked at Richarlison but there’s a belief I’m told amongst the club that they won’t be able to get him and his preference is to move to London.”

TIF Thoughts on interest in Richarlison…

Given Richarlison’s experience in the Premier League and ability to play as either an attacking winger or through the middle as an out-and-out striker, it would have been a very smart and impressive piece of business had Newcastle been able to pull it off.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

However, given that Richarlison reportedly wants to leave Everton for a bigger club, it wouldn’t make much sense to leave Goodison Park, just to join another club that can’t offer any European football.
