Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that if Newcastle United offer Christian Eriksen a deal then it could be a great move for him.

There have been reports stating that Newcastle United have made an approach for Christian Eriksen on a free transfer, but the Magpies face competition as he has also been heavily linked with a move to Brentford and Manchester United.

Newcastle United signed Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, Matt Targett (on loan), Bruno Guimaraes, and Chris Wood in January, who all made a difference in the second half of the season as the Magpies climbed out of the relegation zone up to 11th place in the Premier League, but the only signings Eddie Howe has made this window is Nick Pope for £10m and Targett on a permanent deal.

Although there has been no official approach made by Newcastle as of yet, Bridge spoke on The Transfer Show and claimed that if they did put an offer on the table, then it would be a great club for him to join.

“If Newcastle have offered him something, I think Newcastle would be a great club for him maybe for a season,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Eriksen, who has been called ‘unbelievable’ by Brentford boss Thomas Frank, did well last season with Brentford, he made a great impact after he lost just two games in a Bees shirt in the 11 games that he played for them in the Premier League and he also chipped in with five-goal contributions.

With Newcastle having such an impressive second half of last season, Howe will be keen to build on this and bring in more top talent who will hopefully be able to take his side to the next step, and with Eriksen featuring 49 times in the Champions League, he could be a perfect option.

However, Newcastle do not have European football to contend with next season, and with Manchester United reportedly offering Eriksen a deal, who have Europa League football, this could seem like a more attractive option.
