Journalist Rob Blanchette says that a bid from Manchester United for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is imminent.

With the news that Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and perhaps most significantly, Paul Pogba, are all heading for the exit, United’s midfield is in need of a major refresh.

Frenkie de Jong has been linked with a reunion with new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, but Ben Jacobs has cast doubt over the proposed move for the Barcelona maestro.

Who would you prefer at United?

Meanwhile, Wolves dynamo Neves is also another name that has been mentioned, with the Portuguese international reportedly making it clear to his current employers that he wishes to leave.

The West Midlanders are believed to seeking around £51.4m (€60m) for the 25-year-old, and Blanchette is expecting a bid to be tabled from the Red Devils sooner rather than later.

Speaking on The Done Deal Show on YouTube, he said: “If you’re looking for a player who is Premier League-ready at a price range that you can afford without worrying too much, Ruben Neves is absolutely perfect for Manchester United.

“So we do understand that United will make an offer for him now in the next few days, we’ll see how that goes.”

TIF Thoughts on Neves to United…

Having been hailed as “excellent” by Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager would be the first to realise just how talented a player his cross-city rivals would be getting.

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

An average of 2.1 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per game highlights the work he can do off the ball, but like a typical modern No 6, he knows how to hold on to it as well.

He boasts an 84% pass success rate in the Premier League from this season and his average of six long balls per game is at least two more than any Manchester United player (WhoScored).

Even with his contract not expiring until 2024, Wolves have set a reasonable asking price for Neves and perhaps it is one that United are going to take them up on.
