Football journalist Conor McGilligan has revealed that Leeds United have an interest in signing left-back Kai Wagner.
Earlier this summer, TEAMtalk claimed that manager Jesse Marsch would be backed in the summer and a new option to provide extra depth in the fullback position could be on the agenda.
It seems as though this could well be the case with the Philadelphia Union defender supposedly drawing some attention from the Premier League club ahead of the upcoming transfer market.
Indeed, while speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan said that he’d been told ‘off air’ that Wagner could be an option.
He explained: “Apparently Leeds United are out there looking at left-back as well in Kai Wagner. I believe he plays for Philadelphia Union – correct me in the comment section if I’m wrong there, guys.
“But that is just a rumour. A little bit of a very quiet rumour that I’ve been told off air. So yeah, we’ll have to wait and see with that one.
“But it is good that Leeds are focusing in on a left-back as well because I’m a little bit worried I’m not hearing anything on that, apart from a couple of quiet rumours behind closed doors.”
Do Leeds need a new left-back this summer?

TIF thoughts on Kai Wagner and Leeds…
The 25-year-old is a regular for Philadelphia and has started every single MLS game for the club this season, playing 12 times while claiming a couple of assists and losing just once (via Transfermarkt).
Back in April 2019, The Athletic praised the German and claimed that he was one of the best-emerging left-backs in the American league and spoke of how he could contribute to the attack as well with the defender providing an assist for one Brenden Aaronson – who just so happens to have signed for Leeds this summer.
With all that in mind, the idea of him linking up with his former teammate, only this time in Yorkshire, could be a tantalising prospect for Leeds fans. And after McGilligan’s latest comments, this one could be something to keep an eye on.
