Journalist Conor McGilligan has mooted a Leeds United move for ‘complete right-back’ Rasmus Kristensen.

Having come through the Red Bull coach development system to manage New York Red Bulls, RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig before joining Leeds, it’s no shock to see Jesse Marsch linked with players belonging to those clubs – after all, he has just signed Brenden Aaronson from the Salzburg outfit.

With that likely in mind, McGilligan has urged the club to consider looking at Kristensen, who also plays for the Austrian team. Indeed, when speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan praised the player for his physical attributes ahead of a potential transfer.

He said: ‘“Rasmus Kristensen is a right-back for RB Salzburg. Supposedly, he’s available for around £10-12m this summer and has played under Jesse Marsch at Salzburg before.

“Looks like a really complete right-back. He’s athletic, he’s physical, and he’s got a fair few assists and goals this season for RB Salzburg.”

He then concluded: “He’s notoriously not a full-back who bombs on; he’s not a fullback who is that overlapping individual.

“He is a strong, physically imposing right-back. He’s quite old-school, so he fits the Jesse Marsch profile.”

Should Leeds sign Rasmus Kristensen?

TIF Thoughts on Rasmus Kristensen and Leeds…

According to The Athletic, the Whites are tracking the defender, so this deal could potentially be something that ends up happening this summer.

With a combined 10 goals and assists last season, Kristensen clearly knows how to contribute to the attacking side of the game. Even so, McGilligan suggests he can happily defend in an ‘old-school’ way, which may explain why he views him as such a complete player.

Evidently, the defender has a lot of potential, and at 24 years of age, he could still improve. With Leeds linked with a move by a reputable source, this could be one to keep an eye on over the coming months.
