Tottenham Hotspur are looking to land Sam Johnstone this summer and everything points towards him being a great addition.

This is according to football journalist Pete O’Rourke who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the potential addition of the 29-year-old.

Who would you prefer at Spurs?

Spurs have been heavily linked with the West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper who will become available on a free transfer at the end of his current deal which expires soon.

Johnstone has also been linked with a potential summer return to Old Trafford, however, it is believed the Lilywhites sit in pole position to land the shot-stopper.

And O’Rourke believes it would be a great addition for Antonio Conte’s side with Hugo Lloris having just extended his stay in North London:

Sam Johnstone, who, again is at a good age, he’s English as well. So I think for everyone connected with Tottenham this looks a good signing and I’m sure now that looks like they’ve got two good goalkeepers on their books.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

It has been a difficult campaign for the on-loan Spurs backup goalkeeper, Pierluigi Gollini, who has made just 10 appearances across all competitions this season (via Transfermarkt).

Gollini is only at Spurs on a one-year loan deal from Atalanta which is set to expire next month and according to Italian reports (via Fiorentina.it) the North London side do not have any intention of making his deal permanent.

And we think given that Gollini has failed to make an impact, as O’Rourke says, this would be a really smart acquisition from Spurs as not only is he a free agent but will also contribute to the homegrown quota.
