Sky Sports man Chris Hamill was left impressed by Emerson Royal’s display on Thursday night in their huge North London Derby victory

It was a night to remember for the Lilywhites as they thumped their bitter rivals to close the gap on the top four down to just one point.

Have you been impressed by Emerson recently?

And the Brazilian started yet another game under Antonio Conte as he steps in for Matt Doherty at right wing-back with the Irishman’s season cut short by injury.

It has been a difficult season for the 23-year-old who only joined the North London side in the summer from Barcelona for a fee of £22.5m having struggled to provide much attacking input

The Brazilian even came close to getting his name on the scoresheet in front of the Spurs faithful and it was apparent Hamill was pleasantly surprised by the wing-back and hailed his manager for the transformation:

“Turning Emerson Royal into a decent fullback might be Conte’s biggest managerial achievement yet.”

TIF Thoughts on Hamill’s comments…

This will be music to the ears of Tottenham fans with the Brazilian coming into the derby clash on Thursday on the back of perhaps his best performance in a Spurs shirt, against Liverpool.

It certainly was an impressive display from the wing-back having touched the ball 75 times, completed 94% of his passes and completed four tackles (via SofaScore).

And these performances have come at a time where his Spurs future is being put under serious scrutiny with the player himself already claiming to be aware of interest from Atletico Madrid.
