Alasdair Gold has suggested clubs will be queuing up to sign Emerson Royal this summer if Tottenham Hotspur are to look to sell him.

The Spurs correspondent was speaking on his latest YouTube video following the north London’s draw on the weekend against Liverpool.

Should Spurs sell Emerson in the summer?

And it was apparent Gold was impressed by the Brazilian’s display at Anfield as he awarded him with a 9/10 rating after the game for football.london.

However, it has been a difficult campaign for the 23-year-old, on the whole, with just one goal and one assist to his name in 41 Spurs appearances (via Transfermarkt).

It is believed the right wing-back position is one in which Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have marked out as an area to improve in the summer:

“Emerson was really good. He was really good. He’s not a natural fit as a wing-back, he’s not. And I still wonder whether that may have consequences for his future at the club, especially if you know if Conte stays and we’re going to play with wing-backs. And whether Conte feels he can turn him into a wing-back.

“But nights like this [Saturday] show his value, they do. And if he does move, I think he’ll have no issue finding another club. I think they’ll be queuing up especially back in Spain for him. I think Spurs will probably make more than they bought him for.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We are interested to see how this summer pans out in N17 with Matt Doherty claiming the starting position at right wing-back before suffering a season-ending injury.

So if it is Emerson who will make way in the summer for a new right wing-back, performances like the one at Anfield certainly won’t do either him or Spurs any harm.

It has been reported in Spain (via 90min) that Atletico Madrid have identified the Brazilian as a possible target for the summer and Spurs may be hoping the La Liga outfit were watching on Saturday night.
