ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United pay not have to pay the full transfer fee for midfielder Nikola Vlasic.
Going into the current season, the Hammers agreed to pay CSKA Moscow a reported £26.8m, plus £7.7m in add-ons, for the 23-year-old.
However, due to the current situation in Russia – which has heavily impacted football within the country – complete payment of that fee to Vlasic’s former club may be avoided.
Will Nikola Vlasic come good for West Ham?
Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex outlined his understanding of the matter which could see the club handed a financial boost.
He explained (56:49): “The Vlasic situation, which is where he was signed from a Russian club, we might not have to pay the full fees that we haven’t yet paid because we do it in instalments.
“And those instalments that haven’t been paid yet, because of the Russian situation, may not need to be paid now.”
TIF thoughts on Nikola Vlasic and West Ham..
And so, there may well be a number of supporters who are looking at that fee – which could be as much as £34.5m – and thinking their club has overpaid. With that in mind, they will no doubt be delighted if the club end up having to pay less for Vlasic.
It remains unclear as to how much the Hammers could potentially be let off, as it will depend on how they structured the deal, and how much they have left to pay in those instalments.
Still, with the club likely aiming to be pretty active in the summer transfer market, any extra financial boost will be greatly appreciated.
