ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United potentially consider Armando Broja as their number one target in the upcoming transfer market.

Rumours linking the Chelsea man, who is currently on loan at Southampton, with a move to the Hammers this summer have been circulating for some time now. Indeed, Ex revealed the club had an interest in the striker back in January earlier this year.

Months on, as we know head towards the end of the Premier League season, it seems as though that interest hasn’t faded at all. In fact, when talking on The West Way Ham podcast, Ex claimed that David Moyes rates the player very highly and he expects the club to compete with Southampton for his signature.

He said (1:00:44): “Broja is someone we 100 percent are interested in – 100 percent. I know this factually, because I’ve had conversations with scouts.

“I’ve had conversations with people in the club, and I know that David Moyes has spoke to a number of people about how much he rates this player. He sees him as an all round forward, good in the air strong, quick, good finisher.

“He’s obviously on loan at Southampton from Chelsea. So Chelsea’s situation is going to be a factor in that. Although it does look like disappointedly they are going to be taken over. So when that goes through, I expect us to compete with Southampton for Broja.

“I would say he’s possibly the number one target, although again, that’s gonna depend on how negotiations go.

TIF thoughts on Armando Broja and West Ham…

With nine goals to his name in all competitions this term, and one assist too, it seems Broja has caught the eye during his loan spell with the Saints. However, he has lost a little momentum of late – with his last league goal coming back in February 12 appearances ago.

The fact that Moyes’ interest has apparently only grown during this time, shows just how highly rated he is by the West Ham manager.

As Ex mentions, though, one huge factor in the deal could be Chelsea’s willingness to sell the player. Due to the current situation regarding the change in ownership at the club, many questions remain over how they will operate in the transfer market.

It does seem that West Ham’s interest is real, but for now Chelsea hold the key to Broja’s future.
