Talking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said (51:56): “We scouted a guy called Charlie McArthur, who plays for Kilmarnock, in the week, last week.

“He’s 16. He a centre back, well into six foot – six foot three, six foot four. He’s 16. He’s been highly rated.

“You know, apparently he’s played really well for Kilmarnock, even though he’s 16. You wouldn’t notice, you’d think he’s been an experienced centre back.

“So much that Brighton and Wolves and other clubs have scouted him. And apparently we’re really interested in, we think he could be a really good purchase for future years.”

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why West Ham are keeping tabs on his development, and sending scouts his way, with a mind to potential make a move in the future.

However, with Brighton and Wolves also named as potential suitors, the Hammers may face some stiff competition if they want to get this deal over the line.

With time on his side, it will certainly be interesting to see what direction McArthur’s career takes over the next few seasons and indeed this summer.
