Alasdair Gold has suggested Ivan Perisic is already set for a key role playing a part in Ryan Sessegnon’s development at Tottenham Hotspur as his impending move to north London edges ever closer.
Perisic, who was previously managed by Antonio Conte at Inter, is set to make the switch from the Italian giants to Spurs this summer. He is expected to sign a two-year contract, with him currently in the capital to complete a medical.
In an article about Perisic’s transfer, Gold suggested Perisic’s arrival could be key: “There will also be another big role for the experienced wide man as both Conte and Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici believe that Perisic can help mentor and push on 21-year-old Sessegnon to develop as the wing-back duo share the large amount of matches on offer next season with Spurs’ return to the Champions League.”
TIF Thoughts on Perisic and Sessegnon…
Perisic arrives at Tottenham with a strong pedigree, having featured for the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund along with Inter and playing in a World Cup final. Last term, he scored eight goals and provided seven assists in Serie A, and Conte will be hoping his contributions in the final third of the pitch will rub off on Sessegnon.

For the first time since his move from Fulham in 2019, Sessegnon has evolved into an important player for Spurs, making 13 starts in the Premier League, including in each of the last six fixtures. However, despite goals and assists being a huge part of his game at the Cottagers, he has just one goal in 33 games for Spurs.
