Journalist Dean Jones believes Tottenham Hotspur really want to see former player Christian Eriksen return to the club this summer.

£13.5m-valued Eriksen signed for Brentford on a short-term contract in January and his deal is now over, making him a free agent at the start of July.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones said Spurs are exploring a move to capture Eriksen’s services. He said: “In terms of Christian Eriksen, it is definitely still something that’s on their horizon.

“There were new talks last week, just to check where his mindset was at and seeing what Brentford’s offer was to him.

“Tottenham definitely want Eriksen back, especially now they have got Champions League football. Usually you say no going back, but with Eriksen, that is not how they’re thinking.”

TIF Thoughts on Eriksen…

Eriksen’s arrival at the Bees gave everyone at the club a huge lift, and he was ultimately key to their Premier League survival. They lost just three of the 11 league games in which the ex-Inter man featured, winning seven and drawing one. Eriksen himself contributed with one goal and four assists, orchestrating the play from the middle of the park.

It was a brilliant move from Brentford to sign him, but the truth of the matter is that he is a world-class player and deserves to be playing at the highest level. Thomas Frank, who saw his ability first-hand even called him ‘unbelievable’ earlier on in the current campaign. Tottenham are just one of several clubs interested in him, but his previous connection to the club makes them a leading suitor. On a free transfer, it is a deal Antonio Conte and co should be looking to get over the line as soon as possible.
