Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge does not believe Christian Eriksen will join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Sky Sports correspondent and Spurs fan has been speaking to This Is Futbol on the future of the Danish midfielder ahead of the summer window.

Eriksen joined Brentford back in January on a short-term deal which is set to expire next month but it is believed the Bees are trying to secure his services for at least another season.

It has been a sensational return to football for the 30-year-old having provided five-goal involvements in his 11 Premier League appearances which saw a dramatic improvement to Brentford’s form (via Transfermarkt).

Do you want Eriksen back at Spurs?

No

Reports have suggested Spurs are looking into the possibility of a reunion with their ‘Danish dynamite’ but Bridge is not so confident the north London club will pull the deal off.

He said: “He could be sitting this week or he might be having a short holiday with his family and he’s probably got 30 great options on the table. One might be Tottenham.

I don’t think it will be Spurs. I’ve not heard anything on Spurs yet. I still think it’s a little bit of [putting] two and two together.”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

We absolutely feel Spurs should be looking to bring Eriksen back to N17 this summer. No Spurs midfielder had more than four assists across all competitions this season – which Eriksen equalled in just 11 games.

Eriksen has shown over the years at Spurs that he is capable of providing a creative spark which you could argue Tottenham have not replaced since he left.

“I know lots of Spurs supporters as well, and a lot of them are saying they’d love to have him back at Spurs, saying that they have missed him since he left and they haven’t replaced him adequately,” said Kaveh Solekol on Sky Sports’ Transfer Show.

However, could Spurs offer him regular first-team football? Does he fit in Antonio Conte’s system? Well, it seems the Italian would be open to the idea of Eriksen returning.
