Tottenham Hotspur will ‘push the boat out’ this summer for Alessandro Bastoni if Antonio Conte gives Fabio Paratici the green light.
This is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the north London club’s plans for the upcoming window.
Strong reports suggest the Inter centre-back is on Tottenham’s radar this summer, with both Conte and Paratici being big fans of the Italian.
Left-sided centre-back is believed to be one of the main areas Conte is looking to improve over the summer, with four main targets reportedly on their radar a couple of months ago.
Should Spurs go all out for Bastoni?
And Jones believes the north London club would be willing to spend big on Bastoni in the window if he is the man Conte feels will best suit his needs.
He said: “I think they would pay it. I think they’d push the boat out for that one if Conte really wanted it. That’s the thing we’ve seen too – Conte’s demanded that Tottenham brought in players in January and he got what he wanted – or near what he wanted anyway. Other managers haven’t had that sort of sway with Daniel Levy.”
TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
A £150m cash injection has been provided by ENIC to show their support for Conte, and we think adding a player of Bastoni’s calibre would certainly be a huge confidence boost for the Italian manager.
With a reported £50m thought to be the minimum required to secure the services of Bastoni, we feel this is a deal Spurs should be all over having seen the impact a top-class defender can provide, with the addition of Cristian Romero (via football.london).
