Liverpool’s hunt for an unprecedented quadruple continued as they edged past Chelsea for the second time at Wembley to make it two from two at the national stadium this season.

After beating the London outfit in the Carabao Cup final earlier in the season on penalties, the FA Cup final went in the same direction – goalless after 120 minutes with the shootout heading to sudden death.

Kostas Tsimikas was the hero in the shootout for Liverpool, firing home from the spot after Alisson saved from Mason Mount in front of the Chelsea supporters to ensure the FA Cup returned with the squad to Anfield.

After the game, social media was flooded with ex-players and supporters sharing their joy at the triumph, with Jamie Redknapp showing his appreciation for Jordan Henderson on Instagram:

TIF thoughts on Redknapp’s post…

It’s no surprise to see the former Red and Sky Sports man laud the Liverpool captain as he made history on Saturday, doing something no other Liverpool captain has done, not even Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool won the first of their six European cups in which season?

It’s a nice touch from Redknapp to acknowledge Henderson after another historic day for Liverpool Football Club. Henderson is certainly writing his name into the record books at Anfield and will surely go down as one of the best captains ever at the club.
