Football writer Charles Watts has claimed that Granit Xhaka could be set to play his last game for Arsenal this weekend.

The Gunners will host Everton in their final Premier League clash of the season on Sunday with only an outside shot of making into the top four.

After that, with the summer fast approaching, attention will soon turn to primarily focus on the transfer market. With that in mind, Watts has suggested that Xhaka could well be leaving the club, and has touted Roma as a possible destination.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Granit Xhaka’s final game in an Arsenal shirt at the weekend.

“We’ll have to wait and see if that move to Roma does materialise this summer, like it nearly did last summer.

“So it could be the final time to see a few of these Arsenal players in an Arsenal shirt.”

TIF Thoughts on Granit Xhaka and Arsenal…

Xhaka recently made the headlines after he gave an explosive interview following Arsenal’s recent defeat away at Newcastle United.

Indeed, he told Sky Sports (via GiveMeSport): “If someone isn’t ready for this game, stay at home. It doesn’t matter your age. If you’re nervous, stay on the bench or stay at home. You need people to have the balls to come here and play.

“It’s one of the most important games for us. We’re feeling very disappointed for the people who came over here. Sorry to them [fans], I don’t have any other words. The dressing room is very quiet. The game plan was totally different to what we did over 90 minutes.”

The Swiss star was far from pleased and if he can’t get rid of that angry feeling, it’s easy to see why Watts feels as though he could be playing his last game for the Gunners in this weekend’s Premier League clash with Everton.

During the past summer, it looked as though Xhaka would be joining Serie A club Roma, only for no deal to materialise. After his latest disappointment with Arsenal, though, now may well be the time to move on to the Italian outfit – just as Watts suggests.

However, this is something that may come as a bit of a shock, as last month he promised not to leave Arsenal until he achieves something special in north London.
