Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur target Pau Torres may be on the radar of plenty of clubs in the summer.

Torres is currently playing for Villarreal and is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer window, but the north London side face competition for the Spaniard’s signature, as Manchester United are also thought to be tracking his progress.

The Spanish defender came through the Villarreal youth academy and has been a mainstay in the side this season. In La Liga, he has featured in 32 games whilst scoring five goals and assisting once.

With the links of a move to Spurs for Torres, O’Rourke has claimed to GiveMeSport that there will be a lot of clubs interested in him as the summer transfer window looms.

He said: “If they could offer Champions League football to prospective signings next season, I think that’s going to be a major boost. But I think there’s going to be a lot of clubs in for Torres this summer.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Torres, who has been labelled as a ‘sensational kid’, has been one of the standout performers for Villarreal this season. In La Liga for his side, he has the fourth-highest average player rating (7.08), the third-highest number of passes on average per game (52.5) and the second-most clearances on average per game (3), as per SofaScore.

Judging by the 25-year-old’s stats, he would be a great addition to Conte’s side, especially with Spurs on the brink of qualifying for the Champions League, as he has experience playing in the competition.

If Spurs do not qualify for the Champions League, you can see why this could lower their chances of signing Torres, so if Conte wants to sign him, he must ensure that they get the job done against Norwich City on the final day of the season.
