Pundit Dean Ashton has claimed that he expects Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to both sign new deals after Jurgen Klopp recently put pen to paper on a new contract.

Salah has arguably been in the peak form of his career this season for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals which makes him the league’s top scorer, whilst contributing with 13 assists, which also makes him the league’s top assister in 34 games in the Premier League.

There have been some doubts over Mane and Salah’s futures at the club after Jurgen Klopp brought in Luis Diaz in the summer, and there have been no updates on either of the duo signing a new deal.

Despite the pair are yet to sign new deals, whilst speaking on the Sky Sports News’ The Football Show, Ashton has claimed that he expects new contracts to be signed imminently.

He said: “I thought when Jurgen Klopp signed his contract, that made me think that Sadio Mane and Salah would both sign new deals, and I still believe that to be the case.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Ashton’s comments…

Mane and Salah have been two standout performers again for Liverpool this season. Between them, they have 37 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League, so Klopp is likely to be keen to keep both of them at the club for at least another season.

Both of them will see their contracts expire at the end of next season, so it is important for Klopp to tie them down to new deals or think about selling them immediately, to ensure that they can either keep them at the club or at least get some money in return if they do part ways.

However, after the introduction of Luis Diaz in January, the German manager may be more inclined to sell one of them and then use the funds to invest in other areas of the pitch where they are weaker in depth.
