Tottenham Hotspur‘s decision to loan Bryan Gil back out to La Liga has left the Sky Sports reporter, Michael Bridge, baffled.

The reporter was speaking to This Is Futbol about the North London club ahead of the summer transfer window as they aim to land a spot in the top four.

What should Spurs do with Bryan Gil in the summer?

And he has questioned what is there to be gained by the Lilywhites through loaning out the Spanish youngster in January having only signed him in the summer.

Gil had made the move to the Premier League last summer from Sevilla in a deal involving Erik Lamela and £22.5m, however, he did not make a single start in the English top flight.

With Spurs struggling for goals against Brighton & Hove Albion, Bridge questioned the decision made by the Spurs hierarchy over allowing Gil to leave on loan:

“The Tottenhams and Chelseas, when they loan players you want to see what these players can do. That’s why I said, Bryan Gil, I know what he can do in La Liga that’s why Tottenham bought him,” said Bridge.

“I’m not sure what Tottenham gained from that maybe just him playing games.”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Spurs more than likely loaned Gil out as it seemed he did not have a spot in Antonio Conte’s plans with just 181 minutes of action under the Italian.

However, as Bridge alludes to, it does raise the question over what this means for the Spaniard’s future in North London ahead of the summer window?

There have been suggestions Valencia would certainly welcome Gil returning to their squad for next season given his situation at Spurs seems complicated.

And with the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski – who has hit the ground running – you do have to wonder where his future in North London lies?
