Liam Kennedy has been speaking on the Black & White podcast about the future of Bruno Guimaraes at Newcastle United.

Bruno Guimaraes has been in red hot form since he’s been handed some regular starts at Newcastle United under Eddie Howe with three goals and one assist in his six league starts since arriving in January for £40 million.

Are you worried Guimaraes could leave NUFC?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, while it will be great for Newcastle fans to see someone they spent a lot of money on come in and thrive almost straight wat and earn a lot of plaudits on the way, that doesn’t go unnoticed outside of Tyneside with AS claiming that Spanish giants Real Madrid said to be interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder.

Kennedy has spoken about this reported interest from Real Madrid on the Black & White podcast.

“I think that the core of the team needs strengthening and like I say, if you look to the level of Bruno, picking up younger, hungry players who have really got something to prove and want to step up to that next level.

“I think nobody at Newcastle noted, would disagree if Real Madrid or Manchester City suddenly stepped up and signed Bruno Guimaraes because Newcastle cannot offer Champions League football, they can’t offer trophies.”

TIF Thoughts on Guimaraes’ future…

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Newcastle United fans will not even want to consider the possibility of their star midfielder leaving so soon after impressing on Tyneside, but if Guimaraes does continue to perform as he has done with the Magpies, it’s only natural that clubs offering Champions League football and the chance to win trophies regularly will come calling.

This link between Guimaraes and Real Madrid could come as a warning to Newcastle that while PIF want to grow the club steady, shown by Howe’s reported £60 million transfer budget, they may need to also build quickly if they wish to keep their star players as they will want to be playing in the biggest competitions and lifting silverware.
