Rumours surrounding the future of Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur are not believed to be true, according to Alasdair Gold.

The Spurs correspondent has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss his understanding of the reports regarding a potential departure from North London for the Italian.

Will Conte be at Spurs next season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Reports emerging from France on Sunday have suggested Paris Saint-Germain are now preparing to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino just days after winning the Ligue 1 title.

And the French outlet believes Conte has offered himself to PSG and would be willing to sign a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

However, Gold has claimed, having spoken to his sources, this is not the case and Conte has not put himself in PSG’s shop window:

(55:30) “I’ve spoken a few people around Conte, and they say it’s not true. As they would, because let’s be honest, we’re talking about one guy who’s currently employed by a club talking about a club who have another manager currently employed. So yes, if I was around that manager I would also be saying that.

“There’s a part of me there’s a cynical, not cynical side, probably the journalist side of me that thinks, look, it’s a little bit of information that whether it’s right or wrong, it’s no bad thing, I think, for Conte and his camp to have out there. I think it puts more pressure on Levy.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

This really would be some blow for Spurs if Conte was to depart in the summer having only joined back in November, and although Gold claims it is not true, there is often no smoke without fire.

Gold did caveat his claims by stating it would be highly unlikely for the sources in question to admit to the claims, if true, given there are five huge games ahead in Tottenham’s season.

And perhaps those five games will be the key to where Conte’s future lies? If Spurs are able to land a spot in the Champions League then he may decide Spurs is the place to be.

However, if Spurs are only able to offer him Europa League football, then perhaps he will look elsewhere in search of a spot managing in the elite European competition.
