Journalist Derek Clark has claimed that Sunderland striker Ross Stewart would be a good option for Rangers in the summer.

Ross Stewart has been the star man in the English League One for Sunderland this season, he is the top scorer in the league with 22 league goals in 43 games. With the impressive goalscoring record of the Scottish forward, it is likely that he will exit the club in the summer.

Alfredo Morelos is Rangers‘ main striker and top scorer in the Scottish Premiership this season, but he has been linked with a move away from the club in the summer, so the Gers may have to seek a new main man up top.

Do you think Alfredo Morelos will leave Rangers in the summer?

With the reports of a move away from Ibrox for Morelos, Clark claimed on Twitter that Ross Stewart could be a suitable target for Rangers in the summer.

“This may sound weird but having watched him recently when Bolton pumped Sunderland 6-0 he looked decent…one of the very few players who had the physicality to challenge Rico Santos. Would happily take him at Rangers,” Clark said.

TIF Thoughts on Derek Clark’s comments…

Stewart has been a star performer in the English third tier this season and has dominated the attacking stats for Sunderland. In the league, he has the highest average player rating for his side (7.23), he has the highest amount of goal contributions (25) which is 12 more than second place, and he has created the second amount of big chances (8), as per Sofascore.

The Scottish striker has previously played in the SPFL for St Mirren and Ross County, and he could be a good option for Rangers in the summer, especially if they lose their current top scorer Morelos.

Rangers are currently second in the Scottish Premiership behind rivals Celtic, and with it the Hoops in the driver’s seat for the league title, the Gers will surely look to invest wisely in the summer so that they can win the league next campaign.
