Journalist Chris Jack has claimed that there will be a fairly substantial change in the summer in terms of rebuilding a squad at Rangers.

Rangers recently lost in the Old Firm derby, in a result that has had a massive impact on the title race, with the gap to the top now six points, with the Gers having a far inferior goal difference.

There are four key players are the Ibrox that are set to be free agents at the end of the season: Connor Goldson, Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield, and Steven Davis. These are all senior members of the Rangers squad, and although it is a doubt they will let all four players go, this could be an opportunity to bring in some fresh players to the squad.

With several first-team players out of contract in the summer and therefore potentially departing, Jack spoke to GiveMeSport and highlighted the route Rangers could take in terms of a rebuild at the club.

He said: “It’s not something that they can allow to happen. So, come this summer, I think there will be a fairly substantial rebuild of that Rangers squad. And that highlights why the Premiership title is so important.”

TIF Thoughts on Chris Jack’s comments…

Rangers have seemingly failed to build on last season’s title-winning campaign under Steven Gerrard, as they now sit six points behind Celtic with six games to go. Ange Postecoglou’s side have not lost a game in the Scottish Premiership since September, so it is hard to see them dropping at least six points in the remaining six games.

Rangers have certainly had a more successful campaign in terms of Europe compared to Celtic, as they find themselves in the Europa League quarter-finals this Thursday night when they face Braga.

Although Rangers have not been able to follow up last season in terms of their emphatic league success, if they make changes to the playing squad, this could take a while to rebuild and implement the new players into the squad.
