Celtic are closing in on a domestic double this season, having clinched the Scottish League Cup already, while the Hoops have one hand on the league title, aiming to take it away from their local rivals and back to Celtic Park.

Although there is still plenty of work to be done this season, Ange Postecoglou is already looking ahead to next year. The gaffer is planning his squad for the next campaign, looking to make key loanees permanent fixtures of his squad.

According to SBI, the Hoops are in ‘advanced talks’ to bring American defender Cameron Carter-Vickers to Scotland on a permanent basis, fending off interest from English Premier League clubs.

Celtic journalist and podcaster Ryan McGinlay reacted to the news with a simple tweet: “Fantastic news.”

It’s easy to see why the Hoops are desperate to acquire his services going forward. He has played 41 games already this season, with more still to play. Carter-Vickers has clearly been instrumental and vital to Postecoglou this season – something the Australian won’t want to have to replace in the summer.
