Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that despite interest, Romain Saiss is happy at Wolves and a new deal could be signed.

Saiss has had a lot of interest surrounding his name this season. Spanish club Sevilla have been particularly interested in the defender after he has been a mainstay for Bruno Lage this campaign, featuring in 28 Premier League games.

The Moroccan has been part of a solid backline for Lage this campaign. Wolves have conceded just 27 goals in the league, and only the top three sides have conceded less often.

Despite the interest from elsewhere, O’Rourke reported to GiveMeSport that both Wolves and the player are happy with their current situation and will be keen to get a new deal signed.

He said: “From what I understand, he is still happy at the club. I think both parties are pretty hopeful that a deal can be agreed.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke…

Saiss has been a first-team regular for Wolves over the past three seasons in the Premier League, but this season has been a real standout one in terms of performances. He has helped his side keep 11 clean sheets in 28 league games, made an average of 4.9 clearances per game, while he also has a passing accuracy of 80% this season, as per SofaScore.

Wolves are in the running for a European place, and if they can secure European football ahead of next season, this could increase their chances of keeping Saiss at Molineux. However, if they do not achieve this, it may caused a few heads to be turned, especially Saiss’, as Sevilla, who play in the Champions League, have shown interest.

It will be a huge blow for Lage to lose Saiss in the summer, as he has formed a working back-three with Conor Coady and Max Kilman, so they may become disjointed at the back if one of the trio departs.
