Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Ruben Neves could have his head turned in the summer window by the potential interest expected to come his way.

That is according to the football journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Fubtol about the future of the Portuguese midfielder at Molineux.

Reports have emerged recently suggesting Manchester United have marked the 25-year-old as one of their main targets for the upcoming summer window.

And it is believed Arsenal have held a long-term interest in the Wolves ace with just two years remaining on his current deal with Bruno Lage’s side.

Despite what has been an impressive season for Lage and his men, O’Rourke feels the prospect of playing at a bigger club could well prove influential in turning Neves’ head:

“It’s going to be hard for Wolves to keep hold of him if some of the biggest clubs in Europe do come calling for him. His head might be turned to maybe make that move away from Molineux and play at an even higher level of European football,” said O’Rourke.

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s c0mments…

It is hard to disagree with O’Rourke’s suggestion with the Portuguese ace having joined the Midlands club back in 2017 from Porto which may initially have felt like a step-down.

But it would certainly be a big blow to Lage to lose the midfielder who has played a huge role in his starting XI this season with 28 appearances in the Premier League alone.

But we do think if the 25-year-old does wish to leave the club this summer, it potentially could benefit Wolves to allow him to do so as it would provide an opportunity to make a profit on their £16.11m investment with two years left on his contract.
